Howard Nye
University of Alberta, Philosophy
Howard Nye is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Alberta. He works primarily in the areas of practical ethics, normative ethics, and metaethics, and has related interests in political philosophy, the philosophy of mind, and decision theory.
Chris Stinner
Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) Alberta
Chris Stinner is the Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives and Information Management with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) of Alberta. He joined the Alberta OIPC in 2014. In his current position, Chris spearheads the Office's efforts to foster connections with stakeholders in Alberta and beyond, aligning with the Commissioner's vision to engage the technology sector and connect with Alberta's youth.
Prior to joining the OIPC, Chris served as a privacy advisor in the Alberta healthcare sector, assisting physician practices, hospitals, and private sector entities in adhering to information and privacy legislation. Chris holds an MBA from the University of Alberta and a business degree from France.
Amaan Rattansi
Scribeberry
Amaan Rattansi has a diverse work experience in various industries. Amaan is currently a Co-Founder at Scribeberry since April 2023. In 2019, they founded Medfair, a wholesale medical devices and supplies marketplace, and served as the CEO.
Amaan Rattansi completed their Bachelor of Arts (H.B.A, B.A.) in Applied Economics and Media Design at McMaster University from 2006 to 2011. Amaan then pursued a Fellowship in Social Entrepreneurship at the School for Social Entrepreneurs from 2012 to 2013. In 2011, they also attended Bloc for software development. Most recently, from 2017 to 2018, they completed a Masters in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain through the Micromaster program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Damon Mayes
College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Damon brings close to 30 years of experience as a senior leader in the healthcare and private industry sectors. He started his career at the University of Alberta as a medical researcher and graduate studies lecturer in the areas of biostatistics and clinical epidemiology. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, and as an invited visiting scholar, worked with international research teams applying advanced statistical methodologies to medical and public health problems. He then evolved his career working in leadership roles in both healthcare delivery and post-secondary areas including hospital administration and long-term care/assisted living. His extensive leadership experience in the area of information technology includes serving as President of a data analytics company.
For the past several years, Damon has worked as the Chief Operating Officer for the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). In this role, Damon uses his extensive board and executive leadership experience to support CRNA’s Council and the organization in achieving its mandate and to help ensure the public receives safe, competent and highly professional healthcare services.
Dr. Justin Ezekowitz
Physician
Dr. Ezekowitz’s research focuses on acute and chronic heart failure in people with heart “pump” problems or end-stage heart disease. He is involved in numerous clinical trials in heart failure at the local and international levels to identify new treatments or strategies of care.
Dr. Ezekowitz’s research receives support from local, provincial and national research funding bodies as well from global industry. He is currently funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, University Hospital Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the Servier Alberta Innovation in Health Fund (2018). He was named a Royal Society of Canada College Member in 2017.
Ed Jess
College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
Mr. Ed Jess graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with a BA in Economics and Statistics in 1990. He has over 30 years of extensive and varied experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, in product sales, development and senior management.
Mr. Jess joined the College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2012 as Director, Prescribing and Analytics, in the Continuing Competence Department. His current role is Chief Innovation Officer, and he oversees the Analytics, Innovation and Research department at the CPSA. This includes Alberta’s Tracked Prescription Program (TPP Alberta), the Physician Prescribing Practices Program, and the CPSA’s Research & Evaluation team (REVU).
